Heart disease affects millions of people worldwide every year. Recent statistics show that heart disease is the leading cause of death and illness in most countries in the world.
Lack of exercise and a poor diet are major contributors to the buildup of plaque and cholesterol, which over time clog the arteries and main arteries of the heart. This can lead to high blood pressure, stroke, or even a heart attack. An advanced CPR certification course is very important to handle these emergencies.
During periods of loss of cardiac function, CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is helpful. CPR pumps blood by manually pressing the chest with both hands and then injecting air through the mouth, a process called ventilation. The adult CPR ratio and the formula are 30 pumps for 2 breaths for 1 full minute.
To make this an unprofessional savior, one would have to assess the person's consciousness by tapping, shaking, or screaming. If the person is unconscious, continue to check the pulse and assess for breathing. If respiration and pulse are negative, CPR can be performed immediately.
CPR certification is primarily required by healthcare professionals working in hospitals and outpatient services. This is important because there are stages of CPR training, namely BLS or Basic Life Support, and ACLS which is Advanced Cardiac Life Support. In BLS, rescuers are usually taught CPR and rescue ventilation.
The cost of training and certification varies. Some hospitals and institutions cover training costs while others do not. A final diagnostic exam and actual demonstration must be completed before a person can become a certified CPR provider.
