How To Pair An Apple Pencil with iPad

The Apple Pencil is a wonderful tool to have if you’re an artist, a student, or just a casual user who wants to get the most out of your iPad. But if you’re new to using the Pencil, you may be wondering how to pair an Apple pencil with your device. Here’s a quick guide on how to do it.

1 Compatibility

Before you can pair your Apple Pencil, you’ll need to make sure that your device is compatible with it. The Pencil works with the iPad Pro, iPad Air (4th generation), iPad (7th and 8th generation), and the iPad mini (5th generation). If you’re not sure which iPad you have, you can check the “About” section in your device’s settings app.

2 Unlock Your Device

The next step is to unlock your device and make sure that it’s awake. You’ll need to do this in order for the Pencil to be able to connect. If your iPad has Face ID, you’ll need to unlock it with your face. Otherwise, you’ll need to unlock it with your passcode, if you have one set.

3 Pairing the Pencil

Once your device is unlocked and ready, it’s time to pair your Apple Pencil. To do this, you’ll need to remove the cap from the Pencil and plug it into the charging port on your iPad. After a few seconds, your device will recognize the Pencil and you’ll be able to start using it.
